Marcus Willis could be set for a quick return to Wimbledon. With some seeded players yet to play their mixed doubles matches, Willis, 25, is first alternate with Poland's Klaudia Jans-Ignacik if a pair drops out. Meanwhile his profile continues to grow following an appearance in ‘Hello!' magazine with girlfriend Jennifer Bate.

MURRAY MARATHON  



It took five hours and three minutes over two days but Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares finally booked their place in the quarter-finals of the men's doubles, beating Mate Pavic and Michael Venus 6-3, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 4-6, 16-14.

Great Britain Davis Cup captain Leon Smith on Tuesday announced an initial squad of Andy Murray, Kyle Edmund, Dan Evans, Jamie Murray and Dominic Inglot for next week's quarter-final against Serbia, whose top player is world No 82 Dusan Lajovic after Novak Djokovic declined to play.
